Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about what CopyPilotFlow does — and just as importantly, what it doesn't.
What is CopyPilotFlow?
CopyPilotFlow is execution software for futures traders who run more than one account. You trade on one leader account; the platform mirrors each fill to your follower accounts with per-follower sizing and risk limits enforced before any order is sent. It is a tool you configure and control — not a signal service, broker or investment adviser.
How does trade copying work?
You link your accounts, pick one leader and any number of followers, and set a copy ratio, contract cap and (optionally) symbol mapping per follower. When the group is armed, each market order filled on the leader triggers follower orders in real time, after passing that follower’s risk checks. Every action lands in the trade log and audit trail.
What is a leader account? What is a follower account?
The leader is the account you actually trade on. Followers are the accounts that mirror it. Each follower has its own independent settings — ratio, caps and limits — so different accounts can take different sizes from the same leader trade.
Can followers use different quantities?
Yes. Each follower has its own copy ratio and maximum-contracts cap, so a 4-contract leader order can become 4, 2 or 1 contracts on different followers — or be blocked entirely if a follower’s limit is reached.
What happens if a follower order is rejected?
The rejection is recorded in the trade log with its reason and the follower is flagged as out of sync. The reconciliation watchdog compares leader and follower positions and, depending on your configuration, alerts you or automatically flattens the drifted position. Nothing is silently retried into the market.
What happens if an account disconnects?
Copying requires a live, authenticated connection — no orders are placed over a dead session. Connection state is shown in the cockpit, and positions that drift while an account is offline are surfaced by reconciliation when it returns. You should always keep independent access to your broker to manage positions directly.
Can I stop all copying instantly?
Yes. The cockpit has a global emergency stop that halts mirroring, plus per-group pause and flatten controls. These are best-effort tools — an order already at the exchange cannot be recalled — but stopping new copies takes one click.
Does CopyPilotFlow guarantee identical fills or eliminate slippage?
No. Follower orders are separate orders in a live market: they can fill at different prices, partially, or not at all. Copying reduces manual effort; it does not remove execution risk, latency or slippage.
Which brokers and platforms are supported?
Today: the built-in demo broker (a full simulator, no credentials needed), Tradovate (real API + WebSocket integration, in beta), and TradingView alerts via per-group webhooks (beta). Rithmic, NinjaTrader and Interactive Brokers are on the roadmap but not yet available. The Connections page in the app always shows the current, truthful list.
Can CopyPilotFlow withdraw money from my accounts?
No. CopyPilotFlow connects with trading permissions to place and manage orders on accounts you own. It has no withdrawal or transfer capability, and broker credentials are encrypted at rest and never sent to your browser.
Is CopyPilotFlow a broker? Does it provide financial advice?
No and no. CopyPilotFlow is software. It does not hold funds, execute trades on its own initiative, select trades, or give investment advice. All trading decisions and configuration are yours, on accounts you own.
Can CopyPilotFlow guarantee compliance with prop-firm rules?
No. Per-account risk limits (contract caps, daily loss limits, allowed symbols, trading hours) can help you enforce your own rules, but you are solely responsible for knowing and complying with the terms of any evaluation or funded-account program you trade under.
What happens if CopyPilotFlow goes offline?
No new follower orders are placed while the service is unreachable — the system fails safe rather than trading blind. Open positions remain at your broker, which is why you should always keep direct broker access available. Current availability is shown on the status page.
